The 5th edition of the EU-CONEXUS International School Contest ‘Think Smart, Create Green’ saw two teams from Aspire enter the 12 – 14 category. Students had to complete
- a quiz about sustainability
- collect recycled items and make any new object that will be creative, innovative or impactful.
- prepare a PowerPoint presentation.
The students had a lot of fun building their new object, one group built a sustainable water park and called themselves Sunshine (Alice Aniskevich, Nikita Keller, Polina Mikhailova, Ekaterina Nasekina) and one group designed a recycling bin in the shape of a tree, they were the Tree Huggers (Vasilisa Markova, Kira Poole, Alex Harrop, Gabriella Zorab)
Sunshine was selected to go through to the National Final in Nicosia. There they had to present their PowerPoint presentation to a panel of judges. They were marked on their timing, presentation and their ability to do the presentation without using notes. The students performed exceptionally well but unfortunately, we were not chosen to go through to the international final. However, one of the groups we were competing with came third in the international final, so we were up against some stiff competition.
Well done to all involved.
