Learning in the Juniors

Learning in the Juniors

The curriculum in the Juniors is broad and creative, designed to engage and inspire pupils. Teachers and children work together as a team: we recognise that challenge and breadth of experience will enhance the learning process and help each individual child grow.

Subjects taught are:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Geography
  • History
  • Art and Design Technology
  • Computing
  • Greek (separated into Native Greek and Greek as a Further Language)
  • Music
  • PE (Physical Education)
  • PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)

English lessons includes English Literature where students study class novels, poetry and drama as well as English Language skills such as composition, comprehension, spelling, grammar, punctuation and handwriting.

We carefully monitor the percentage of students within each class who require additional English support due to English being a second or further language. These students attend English Booster lessons during English lessons so that their individual needs can be addressed whilst the rest of the class continue with their English studies.

The Booster English children work with a specialist teacher in a much smaller group scenario, focusing on areas for development, until which time they are ready to attend the first language, high level English classes with their year group. The English Booster class children attend all other class lessons with their year group from the time they join Aspire Private British School.

Music, PE and Greek are delivered by subject specialist teachers who promote excellence in their fields.

Above all else, the Juniors is an engaging and nurturing experience, where each child is known and cared for. Our pupils thrive in an academic and supportive environment, developing the confidence and ability to take on the challenge of Senior School education.
