Year 9 Gymnasium students enjoyed their inaugural school assembly at the new Lyceum amphitheatre on Thursday 23rd October where they followed a presentation on OXI day and its significance, prior to our school holiday on the 28th October.

In addition to this, students received awards for their winning poems. For Year 9 the winner was Gabriella Zorab and from Year 8 and 7 Hope Mifsud Gaiger and Alexandra Gorinskaya respectively, as chosen by the Head of English, Miss Irene Mina.

Certificates were also presented to Angeliki Paraskeva for an astonishing 22 Satchel Points since the beginning of Term one.

For the first time we also awarded certificates for Stars of the Month. The criteria for this were not restricted to academic achievements and in light of their excellent performances at the Erasmus Youth Festival on Saturday 18th October, both Gabriella Zorab and Kallin Lyu were honoured by Mr Zack Evangelou, our music teacher for their enthusiasm and talent. The Gymnasium staff were also keen to nominate the following students for their excellent start to the new academic year: Ioanna Louca, Elman Kasumov, Polina Mikhailova, Varvara Zhelova, Ben Tran, Ekaterina Nasekina and Harry Nicolaides.

We look forward to our Year 7 and 8 assemblies in the months to come and to recognising their achievements and progress so far.
